Drag across a sentence in the reader.

A yellow wash holds the selection, and a toolbar floats just above it.

Click Green and the highlight exists.

It renders as a filled block, because it is already kept: the colour is the confirmation.

The colours mean whatever you decide they mean.

Whatever Blue is to you is the only meaning it has.

Note does two things in one gesture.

It makes a yellow highlight, then opens the editor beneath it.

The placeholder reads: your note.

Write the reason you stopped there.

Save.

In six months the colour will tell you nothing.

The sentence you wrote will tell you everything.

The same control does one more thing.

Add a note to an annotation and it keeps itself, so a thought you bothered to write always lands on the Marks page.

Notes are edited where you write them, in the reader popover, and the Marks page shows them back to you.

And it lands under Notes, which is a tag across the other two rather than a fourth kind: one mark, counted twice.

The colour marks the spot.

The note says why you stopped there.
