At scale, rely on stable metadata and intentional scopes rather than perfect filing. Use Collections for durable sets, tags for cross-cutting labels, source filters for provenance, and search for exact terms or remembered phrases.
Review structures when they stop helping. Merge duplicate tags, close stale Trails, inspect suggested Threads before adopting them, and avoid creating a Collection for every momentary interest. Custody is successful when return stays easy, not when every item has a complex taxonomy.
